Advice for after dental extractions and surgical interventions<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

1. Bite down on the sterile gauze after surgery for 1 hour.<\/p>\n

2. Place an ice pack or cold towels on the face as close to the operated area for the first 24 hours. Take care not to cool the skin of the cheek too much (apply local cold for 10 minutes and rest after 10 minutes)<\/p>\n

3. Do not rinse your mouth for the first 24 hours. Do not spit or make repetitive sucking movements. Doing these things can dislodge the clot and disrupt the normal healing process, leading to bleeding.<\/p>\n

4. The day after surgery, you can rinse your mouth with warm water and salt or with water mixed with a mouthwash. Make sure that your oral hygiene is correct, use a very soft toothbrush in the area that is possible. You should do it after each meal (3 times a day). It is normal for the cleaning of the surgical wound to cause some pain and significant bleeding during the first two weeks.<\/p>\n

5. It is preferable to maintain a posture in which the head is higher than the body. For example: sitting or in bed with cushions or with your head held high.<\/p>\n

6. Follow your natural inclinations when it comes to diet, but for your own comfort soft foods and room temperature (not hot or cold) are preferable. Drink lots of fluids. You can start eating when the effect of anesthesia wears off (lip and tongue tingling). Chew on the non-operated side, if possible, and avoid irritating foods.<\/p>\n

7.During the first 24 hours you will notice that a little blood oozes from the wound, if abnormal bleeding appears, fold a sterile gauze, place it on the area and bite for 1 hour (you can repeat it several times) until the bleeding stops.<\/p>\n

8. During the postoperative period (up to the seventh or tenth day) you will present swelling and bruising (face and neck), pain, difficulty opening your mouth and, possibly, general malaise and a few tenths of fever (normal up to 38\u00ba). Do not do important work or physical exercise.<\/p>\n

9. We recommend not smoking during the postoperative period (at least 7 days after surgery).
